Sandwich family firm challenges building giants for Recycling Award

National Recycling Award 2010

Sandwich-based T W Services has been shortlisted for Construction Recycler of the Year in the National Recycling Awards, going head to head with some of Britain's biggest names in construction.

The company's exceptional 95% recycling rate propelled the construction waste specialist to the shortlist putting it alongside large, well-known companies: BAM Nuttall, Bovis Lend Lease, Clancy Docwra, and Skanska.

TW Services was set up in 1995 by the Ray family – Les and Lorraine and their sons Spencer and Wesley – to provide reliable and cost effective waste management services. Today the company operates with 60 directly employed skilled staff and has an

extensive range of modern plant and equipment at its waste processing facility at Richborough, near Sandwich, Kent. The purpose-built facility handles 400,000 tonnes of waste each year through its covered waste processing building.

Director Spencer Ray says: "T W Services' nomination is a real vindication of our family firm's high standards. We are recycling more than 95% of the 400,000 tonnes of construction waste we can handle – and that 95% is a no-quibble, audited figure."

The company has an extensive skip and Rollonoff hire fleet and operates an additional large tipper fleet providing commercial clients with the capacity to handle the largest muckaway contracts.

T W Services is licensed to handle hazardous waste materials including asbestos, liquid wastes and electrical equipment.

"As a result of our recycling efforts we can supply more than 280,000 tonnes of recycled materials back into the Kent construction industry each year," says Ray.

As well as recycled materials segregated and reprocessed through its integrated waste management centre in Sandwich, Kent, TW Services also provides primary aggregates.

"We provide our construction clients with a "one stop" shop for all waste streams," says Ray. "This award nomination confirms that we are a leader in waste recycling and construction materials' supply, providing unrivalled levels of service to commercial and domestic customers throughout Kent. Through consistently high levels of investment in plant, equipment and facilities since 1995, TW Services has grown to become the leading independently owned waste management company in Kent."

The company complies with all relevant health and safety, environmental and quality standards and is registered to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001:2007.
